Upset bid thwarted by second-half comeback
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Adams State College men’s basketball team hit three 3-pointers in the first 2:37 of the game jumping out to a 9-2 lead over the nation’s 13th-ranked Mesa State College Mavericks. They built that lead to as many as 16 points and led by 12 at the half only to see the Mavericks go on a 15-0 run over five minutes early in the second half while avoiding what would have been a gigantic Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference upset with an 80-67 win over the Grizzlies, Saturday night here in Brownson Arena. Grizzly women fall at Mesa
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— The Mesa State College Mavericks out-scored the Adams State College Grizzlies 10-2 over the last two and a half minutes as they snapped the Grizzlies’ 4-game winning streak with a hard-fought 53-49 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win, Saturday night here in the Brownson Arena.
